What you’re seeing on the Fort Myers Beach cam

The camera looks over downtown Fort Myers Beach, the north end of Estero Island where the island’s restaurants, bars and shops cluster around Times Square. In the background is the tall blue arch of the Matanzas Pass Bridge, the only road onto this end of the island. Watch it for a few minutes and you’ll see the day’s weather roll in off the Gulf, traffic coming and going over the bridge, and the light change from bright midday blue to sunset gold.

Our home and guest suites are right here in downtown, a 2 to 3 minute walk from the sand. When guests ask what the neighborhood is like, this live cam is the honest answer.

About the Matanzas Pass Bridge (the Sky Bridge)

The bridge carries San Carlos Boulevard over Matanzas Pass between San Carlos Island and Estero Island. The current high-rise span opened in 1979, replacing an old swing bridge, and gives boats 65 feet of clearance underneath. It was painted its signature blue in 2011, which is why locals call it the Sky Bridge. It came through Hurricane Ian damaged but standing. From the top you get one of the best views on the island: the Gulf on one side, Estero Bay and the fishing fleet on the other.

What does Fort Myers Beach look like now?

The beach is open and wide after renourishment, and downtown has come back to life with reopened restaurants, bars and live music. You’ll still see construction in places. Lee County broke ground on the new Fort Myers Beach Pier in August 2026, and the area around the pier and Lynn Hall Memorial Park, including the beach access at Times Square, is fenced off while it’s built. Old San Carlos Boulevard has waterfront seafood and bars within a short walk of the camera’s view, and Fisherman’s Wharf, just over the bridge, has Doc Ford’s and its neighbors on the water. Best times to watch the live cam

Early morning is calm and quiet, with soft light. Afternoons show the island at its busiest, with boats heading out and back. The last half hour before sunset is the show everyone comes for, and in summer you can often watch afternoon thunderstorms build and pass through.
